Back from Chicago

We're home from our two-day trip to Chicago and it's now official: Richard has his Equity card.

He had an audition for the North Carolina Shakespeare Festival yesterday at the Actor Equity offices. He took in his paperwork (he'd had to fill it out a second time) and they handed him his temporary card. The permanent one will arrive in the mail in the next three weeks.

I did not join him at the AEA offices, but he reported that they were quite nice. There was even a library filled with scripts where actors could hang out and read.

In the two days we were there, we managed to hit:
  • Adler Planetarium
  • Shedd's Aquarium
  • The Field Museum
  • Chicago Children's Museum
  • Sears Tower
  • Gino's East
  • Ed Debevics
However, given that we didn't arrive until Sunday afternoon and Monday is usually a dark night, we didn't see any theater. That's all right, though, between Stuff Happens and Don Quixote, I got my fix before I left town.

I second that. Awesome!

Thank you both--we've definitely been celebrating.

And he's been setting up auditions left and right to try to get that first Equity contract.

Exciting times!

Richard is a fine actor. I've enjoyed him in every role I've seen.

Kudos on the Chicago events. No matter the reason we go, (shopping, theatre, friends, whatever) we ALWAYS go to Gino's East. And for theatre families, going to Ed Debevic's is good improv practice for all trying to "hang with the wait staff!"

If just two of you, try Geja's for romantic fondue! Very fun!

Thank you--I'm awfully fond of his acting as well. I've insisted to him that I get to be the charter member of his fan club.

That said, he also knows that of the worst shows I've ever seen, he was in two that are on that short list.

I'm already craving Gino's East pizza again. It was incredible stuff. I especially like the way the sausage covers the entire pizza.

Geja's is new to me. I'll put that on the list for sometime when it is just the two of us.
