Yana Levovna

Just a quick note--have you read any reviews recently by Yana Levovna at the Lansing City Pulse? I'm quite impressed with her writing. She's very thorough and intelligently analyzes the show she's seen. It's not just a review of "it's good" or "it's bad." Instead, she talks about individual elements that worked or didn't.

She's definitely a reviewer to read.

I had the same impression. When she wrote many good things right off the bat, I thought, "oh oh", one of those "yes" people. Then she gave some gentle criticism. Just like my parents and teachers taught me: compliment first, then be considerate with your criticism. Of course, you've been doing that for awhile now!

It occurred to me after I posted this that I had mentioned her once before. I guess I'm just really excited about her work. I have no idea who she is and would love to meet her.

And thank you for the observation--I do try to be considerate and feel bad when I fail. There are times I've let my words get away from me and those are the phrases that most often haunt me when I look back on what I've written.

Hi, it's Yana here! I was Googling my name (like you do at work when you want to procrastinate...) and I saw these posts. Thank you so much, I admire your work as well Bridgette and I read your posts online or in the paper ALL the time.

I no longer write for the City Pulse because I moved but I really enjoyed my time there. Have fun seeing all the theatre in Lansing!

Isn't it fun what we find when we Google our name? I've also enjoyed your work with Peppermint Creek and Ruhala Center.
